Bedrich MoldanI was born on 15th of August 1935 in Prague. My father worked as a police Lawyer and my mother was a Teacher. I graduated from the Mathematical-Physical Faculty at the Charles University in Prague 1958. From early 70´s I was involved in environment affairs in many directions. Since 1989 I became a member of Czech Parliament and Minister of the Environment of the Czechoslovakia. Currently I am a Professor at the Charles University in Prague, and Senator of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. I am a member of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) and the Minister of Environment in a Shadow Government of this political party. My parliamentary work is primarily focused on environment affairs. I have some international offices in EU as well: I am currently the Chairman of the European Environment Agency in Copenhagen.

My wife works as a Professor of the Czech Literature at the J.E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. We have three children. Although they have their own families and live in various places in Europe, from time to time we meet in Hanspaulka - a district in Prague where we live or at our cottage in the countryside. Our six grandsons always made our reunion time very enjoyable.
